Project - Withy Grove, Manchester

We supplied a variety of systems on a recent remediation project in the heart of Manchester. The residential development on Withy Grove needed to be brought up to date, in line with changes to regulations and the use of combustible material on the outside of buildings. Placed between the iconic Arndale shopping centre and the Printworks entertainment hub, the balconies and terrace areas had timber handrails & decking which was no longer fit for purpose.

Our aluminium handrail profiles were installed directly onto the existing steel balustrade, replacing the rotting timber boards already in place. The profiles were PPC to RAL 9006, to match the colour of the balustrade posts & brackets.

PROJECT
Combustible Material Replacement – Residential

LOCATION
Withy Grove, Manchester

DATE
November 2023

PRODUCTS USED

  • EazyDeck Aluminium Dual Decking
  • EazyDeck Aluminium Joists
  • EazyDeck Aluminium Adjustable Pedestals
  • Bespoke Aluminium Handrail Profile

Over several months this project has removed the building’s combustible materials, replacing them with better performing alternatives from our A2 rated systems.

The EazyDeck Alu Dual boards in RAL 1019 and substructure were used to replace the existing timber boards and substructure, laying directly onto the waterproof membrane. Our A1 rated aluminium joists and adjustable pedestals allowed the customer to install the boards and drainage channels in a way that the water can be directed to the relevant outlets, removing the existing water build up issues.

The customer then replaced the existing non-compliant cladding with our non-combustible EazyClad A2 fibre cement boards, in a sand colour to match the our decking boards.
