Base Covers FAQs

Why use a post base cover?

A base cover conceals raw fixings and gaskets, improving the appearance of the installation and creating a cleaner finished look around the post base.

Which finish should I choose?

A brushed finish matches satin stainless handrails, while a black powder?coated cover complements modern or industrial aesthetics. Corrosion resistance is primarily determined by the material grade rather than the finish.

Are base covers load?bearing?

No. Base covers are decorative. The structural load is carried by the post, base plate and fixings. Ensure fixings meet structural requirements before fitting the cover.

How do I size a base cover?

Select a cover that matches the post diameter and flange size. Our range covers the common 42.4 mm and 48.3 mm posts used in modular systems.

Should the base cover be fitted before or after grouting or sealing the base plate?

It is best practice to grout or seal the base plate and allow it to cure fully before fitting the cover. This ensures a clean contact surface and prevents sealant from spreading onto the visible face of the cover.
