T Section

T-sections are also known as tee sections, steel tees, T-beams, T-bars and steel T bar. Regardless of the name, they’re all structural beams with a T-shaped cross-section. T-sections are manufactured by hot rolling, extrusion, and plate welding steel to create the T shape. BM Steel stocks T-sections in two sizes: 40 x 40 x 5 mm, weighing in at 2.9 kg, and 50 x 50 x 6 mm, weighing in at 4.76 kg.

T-sections are frequently used for general fabrication and for semi-permanent structures. Fences and railroads often use these sections to create stability and connect other components. They’re durable, strong, and relatively easy to install, which makes them a popular choice. T-sections made of mild steel are also used in equipment and machinery buildings.

T Section

Using mild steel T-sections is often preferable due to the steel’s high flexibility and competitive cost. Mild steel sections are created mainly from scrap and can be recycled once more after they’ve been used. This means that new resources can be preserved.

The mild steel T-sections available at BM Steel offer a number of benefits. The first is that they’re a perfect substitute for I-shaped sections where one side flexure is insignificant or to reduce the member’s overall depth. They also offer high axial/flexural capacity compared to L-shaped beams due to their symmetry and web depth.

T Section FAQs

What are T-sections?

T-sections are structural beams with a cross-section shaped like a T.

What is the standard size for T-sections?

T-sections are available in a range of sizes at BM Steel. This includes 40 x 40 x 5 mm with a weight of 2.9 kg and 50 x 50 x 6 mm with a weight of 4.76 kg.

What are T-beams used for?

T-beams, or tee beams, are used in fabrications and semi-permanent structures to create stability or as connectors. The top of the cross section serves as a compression member or flange and works to resist stresses from compression.
