What is a post base plate and what is it used for?

A post base plate is a stainless steel fitting that anchors a balustrade or handrail post securely to a floor, deck, or concrete surface.  

What is the difference between a weld-on and a reinforced base plate?

Weld-on plates require the post tube to be welded directly to the base plate, while reinforced (slip-over) plates feature a raised boss that the post slides over.

What do the 100mm and 120mm sizes refer to?

The 100mm and 120mm dimensions refer to the outer diameter of the base plate disc, not the post diameter.  

Can I use these base plates outdoors or in coastal environments?

Yes. Grade 316 stainless steel base plates are specifically recommended for outdoor and exposed locations, including coastal or poolside environments, where chloride from saltwater and salt air accelerates corrosion of lesser grades.  

What other accessories do I need to complete a surface-mounted balustrade post?

A surface-mounted post assembly typically includes the post, base plate, base cover, and appropriate floor fixings. Depending on the system, additional components such as handrail saddles, elbows, end caps, or connectors may also be required.
